Lovely Bones

On Saturday I went and saw Lovely Bones with some of my friends and I thought it was really good. It’s about this girl name Susie Salmon who is walking home one day and she takes a shortcut and runs into one of her neighbors, Mr. Harvey.  He tells her that he’s working on a new project and he wants her to come and look at it. She hesitates, but goes anyways. His “project” is an underground place he made supposedly for kids to hangout. He opens the door and underneath is a small room. They both go down the ladder and into the room. He tells her to sit down and she gets really uncomfortable. She says she has to go, but he repies, “No. Be polite. Thats another rule. Be polite.”  Mr. Harvey eventually murders Susie inside the den, though in the movie they never show it. They instead show her escaping and running into town where she finds her dad. She calls out to her dad but he doesn’t respond.  This is when you know that she really died and she escapes to her heaven. After a few days of Susie being missing, the detective interviews Mr. Harvey. He blatantly lies and says, “You know, you always blame yourself. I keep on wishing I would of saw something or heard something, because surely she had to of screamed”(of course he knows that no one could of possibly heard her scream because he had her trapped underground.” Throughout the whole movie her parents try to find who her murderer is, while Susie is looking over and narrating in parts.  Her murderer is never caught, instead he is killed by a fallen icicle which sends him down a cliff. I thought the ending was really dumb, and I thought they could of thought of a better way for him to die. I saw it again and saw it with my mom (we were supposed to see Blind Side but it got sold out). I remember right after the movie ended a girl behind us said, “Okay that was the weirdest movie I’ve ever seen.” I thought it was pretty weird too but at the same time it was really good. I still can not comprehend how the author could write a book such as that, but then again I’ve seen stranger. Overall the movie was great and I would recommend it to anyone.

I saw that movie too! You were so scared but you were trying to make it look like you weren’t, even though I know you were totally scared. Very good summary.

I read the book and it’s sooo much betterrr! They barely skim the book. The one thing that really fit was the actor who played the murderer: the last man on earth I would want to be trapped in an underground place with.

haha yea i read the first chapter online and it was nothing like the movie. and i watched an interview with the actor who played george harvey, and he looks totally different. haha he probably didn’t want to look like he did in the movie so people wouldn’t be scared of him.

I saw that too! It was averagely weird for a movie, but I guess you have to read the book first. The book is really sad, but so was the movie. Haha Idk, I think the movie’s better as a companion to the book instead of just by itself.

I read the book and I loved it, even though it was a little strange. It sounds pretty similar to the book. That is a good thing because it really bugs me when the movie is different from the book, but I guess they can’t help that sometimes. Oh well. I can’t wait to see the movie, even if it’s a weird movie.
